The Toddlers (12 - 18 mths approx)
When you and the staff agree that the time is right, your child will move into this group. The move will be gradual with short settling in periods. Your child doesn’t necessarily have to be mobile as they will have plenty of opportunity to practice their walking with the aid of push along toys and walkers.
In this slightly older group the children are encouraged to feed themselves, drink from a beaker and sit at the low tables instead of a high chair. They will do everything that they will do in the next room (Upper Toddlers) only on a smaller scale. This includes all messy and creative play.
Upper Toddlers (18 - 24 mths approx)
As your child gains confidence with running, walking and independence it is usually time for the next stage. In Upper Toddlers, everything is a little larger - tables, chairs, toys and equipment.
Plenty of allowance is made for the fact that the under-twos have relatively short attention spans and activities are planned so that no boredom sets in. As far as the children are concerned it’s all just great fun. In reality their day is carefully organised to encourage development, new skills and confidence. There is always something to do and someone to play with.
