Curriculum
At Towntots we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum guidance. This is a framework put together by the DCSF (Department for Children, Schools & Families) & covers ages 0 - 5 years.
It focuses on six areas of development:
- Persoanl, social & emotional development (PSED)
- Communication, language & literacy (CLL)
- Problem solving/ reasoning/ numeracy (PSRN)
- Knowledge & Understanding of the world (KUW)
- Physical Development (PD)
- Creative Development (CD)
We aim to create a stimulating environment offering children first hand experiences & opportunities for them to develop & learn new skills through play enabling them to progress in all of these six areas.
We understand that through observation, interaction & planning we can follow children's interests & encourage them to be motivated, enthusiastic learners.
All children from 0-5 are allocated a key worker that will encourage, support and develop the individual child’s skills and tend to their needs. Children are observed and assessed and have their own personal progress portfolio.
We recognise tha you as parents/carers are the most important people in your child's lives & that the knowledge that you have of them is invaluable to us, therefore we wish to work in close partnership with you to ensure that your child has the best possible start in their early years.
We welcome any input about activities, skills & appropriate information that will help us to get to know your child better.
